- If you have a more than casual interest in Taoism and can afford this, it will be a constant reference in your ongoing studies and practice. WIth contributions by 45 scholars and practitioners of great repute, and edited by Fabrizio Pregadio, it will provide more background, explanation and perspective than you ever hoped for. Topics are named in pinyin, with characters, and with English titles. Not just a reference, it's just plain good reading! I am so glad I added this to my already extensive library of Taoism material. I wish I'd gotten it sooner.
- Th reason I did not give these volumes a 5-star rating is that many of the entries concerning the teachings of Taoism overemphasize historical and bibliographic aspects and under-emphasize the actual content of the teachings. However the volumes do seem to be as comprehensive as it is claimed that they are. Also the copy-editing of the volumes (an issue with many books I have bought recently) is excellent.

- A good reference guide and tool to find other books and documents to further one's pursuit in The Way.
